I scored 83% (one wrong) but unless the color repro on my monitor is way off, and I don't think it is, another gorilla has passed for a man.

You can buy your own Koko reprints here, beware though, the Love piece is currently on backorder. Dang it!

83% here too, except this time a man passed for an ape. Or maybe it was an ape passing for Philip Roth? Or the other way around? As illustrated by the reading of the day, either would be possible.

But men are already designated as apes. Roth is just a cheap dullard, posing as a great American writer. Whereas gorilla artists are exciting!

So quick, someone buy me Koko's "Bird"! Only $350 and not on back order!

Re: KokoMart

A. Love it! Love the work. I'm with Koko and Michael 100%.

B. Are their handlers projecting some gender stereotypes there? Koko's paintings are given names like "Love" and "Pink", whereas Michael's have names like "Stink Gorilla More" and "Toy Dinosaur". There's more pink in "Stink" than in "Pink", damnit! WTF, handlers?

Free Koko and Michael from the claws of the p-archy! FKMCP!

I thought they chose the names themselves

that is what I remember from the documentary I saw -- Koko named the kittens and everything.

And Michael has already been freed, from everything. He died. :(

He led a full life. Including writing the great american novel.

The kittens. Heart-wrenching.

from Wiki on Michael

Michael had a vocabulary of over 600 signs, some of which he learned from Koko... Michael was very passionate about painting. Using sign language, Michael provided the titles for his own artworks, such as: "Apple Chase", a painting depicting Apple -- his pet dog -- with whom he enjoyed playing chase; "Toy Dinosaur", a painting of a rubber dinosaur toy (which he pressed onto the ground to create scales); "Stink Gorilla More", (a painting of flowers -- "stink" was Michael and Koko's mutual sign for 'flowers'); and "Me, Myself, Good" -- a self-portrait -- which includes his hand print and, in the corner, a colorful shape.

Michael's favorite color was yellow, and his favorite TV shows were Sesame Street and Mister Rogers. He enjoyed listening to Luciano Pavarotti and looking at pictures. Michael also greatly enjoyed painting, and took it quite seriously, as opposed to Koko, who would paint for fun.

how did they arrive at 83%, though

BrainMop said...

The male gorilla took painting seriously whereas the female did it just for fun. No surprises there.

17%. So bad it's good.

I think you didn't take this survey seriously. Must be female.
