In 2007, Republican Ron Paul, who opposes U.S. involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, was the top recipient of money from donors in the military, collecting at least $212,000 from them. Barack Obama, another war opponent, was second with about $94,000.

CLINTON LEADS WITH LOBBYISTS: The industry that has perhaps gotten more discussion in this race than any other, lobbying, continues to favor Hillary Clinton. She received $823,000 in 2007 from the lobbying industry, which gave about $2.7 million overall.

But in 2005, she co-sponsored a bill that would make flag-burning illegal. It just so happened that around that time I heard Justice Antonin Scalia explain why he, a conservative so conservative you cannot be more conservative, considered flag-burning a form of political expression. It was therefore, he said, protected. Precisely so.

Sam: want another giardia story ?
Me: sure
Sam: so it's pouring rain this morning as i walk to the polling place
and i'm already running pretty late to work
Sam: and my original plan (before i woke up and found it raining) was
to go from the polling place to my dr office, which is out of the way
and give a stool sample before going to work
Sam: so i finally get to my dr office at around 10:30
Sam: and i know i'm gonna be really late to work
Sam: and i go to the lab to give the stool sample and the woman gives
me a kit and tells me to take it home
Sam: i ask if i can please do it there, so i don't have to come back
(it's out of the way as I said)
Sam: so for some reason i can tell the woman doesn't want me to do it
there... she practically frowns at me, and says "well it's messy"
Sam: as if to dissuade me
Sam: and i say "well it's going to be messy if i do it at home too,
i'd prefer not to have to come back just to drop off samples"
Sam: so she shows me these three plastic tubes that i need to put poop into
Sam: they're bigger than normal test tubes, but no wider than a roll
of half dollar coins i'd say
Sam: you still with me ?
Me: hell yeah i am
Sam: so she shows them to me and says "do you think you can aim and
get them into these, or do you need a pan to put into the toilet to
collect your stool"
Me: were you thinkign about how you might want to take a shower after doing it
Sam: now think about this
Sam: i'm having DIARRHEA
Sam: and she wants me to aim into a small ass tube i'm going to be
HOLDING IN MY HANDS under my ass?!!
Me: hahah
Sam: i guess 'ass tube' is a bit of a pun
Sam: anyway i tell her yes, i'd prefer the pan
Me: why is that a pun
Sam: "small ass tube"
Me: haha
Sam: because it's for my ass
Sam: pun
Sam: anyway
Me: i got it
Me: now
Sam: i think that was really the punchline of the story -- and it's
funnier if you can see how small the tubes are and then picture me
trying to accurate shit into them
Sam: so i guess the story is over now.
Sam: i'm worried i didn't have enough poop for all three
Sam: hoepfully it'll be enough
Me: how did it go though?
Me: you managed to direct your poop into them
Sam: fuck no, i used the pan in the toilet to collect the shit
Sam: and then they gave me a tongue depressor to scoop it out into the tubes
